- Story Text: As Khmer Government forces advanced up Highway Six on Thursday, (Aug 26) hundreds of refugees were fleeing in the opposite direction in fear of a major battle looming.
Other refugees were fleeing for different reasons, according to Khmer High Command spokesman. They said that Communists in the area had rounded up and taken off as many as 3,000 villagers.
The operation is aimed at punching through North Vietnamese infiltration and supply routes across Highway Six, near the town of Baray, 56 miles north of Phnom Penh.
