  • Story Text: Nearly two thousand Palestinian refugees have
    demonstrated at Ain al-Hilweh refugees camp in south Lebanon
    against Israel's takeover of Palestinian headquarters in
    Jerusalem.



    Refugees, among them gunmen loyal to Yasser Arafat's
    PLO-Fateh group, shouted slogans on Sunday (August 12)
    praising the suicide attack claimed by the hardline Islamic
    Jihad group, which left 15 people injured in Israel.

    Demonstrators carried photos of Yasser Arafat and Nayef
    Hawatmeh, leader of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of
    Palestine.

    They burned an effigy of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel
    Sharon and a model of Israeli settlement.

    Ain al-Hilweh is the largest Palestinian camp in Lebanon
    and houses nearly 60,000 refugees.

    A total of 15 people were injured and the suicide bomber
    was killed in the attack in northern Israel which came three
    days after a similar attack left 16 dead, including the
    bomber, in the heart of west Jerusalem.

    Israel took over the PLO's Orient House, and other
    buildings in and around Jerusalem, in what it said was a
    retaliation for last weeks suicide bombing in the western part
    of the city.
