- Story Text: In the Neak Long region of the Khmer Republic, government forces have withdrawn from key positions along highway One.
The long-defended Kampong Trabok has been over-run by communist troops and units of Vietcong and North Vietnamese are believed to be in control of the strategic range of mountains overlooking the area.
The heaviest fighting has been over the last four days. Constant pressure during the daylight hours and rocket barrages during the night have forced the ???hmors to split from their main attacking forces and move back along the highway.
The local people have had to move too. Many of them are heading towards Phnom penh, or to government camps which have been set up to cope with the increasing flood of refugees from was-torn ??? like the Kompong Trabok region.
Several of the refugees have been wounded during rocket attacks. They know that in Phnom Penh they will be unable to afford rice and they know that they will be over-run if they stay in their homes. They join the thousands of people fleeing back along the highway as the communist advance continues.
