  • Story Text: Syria's ambassador to France, Lamia Chakkour, left the French Foreign Ministry in Paris on Tuesday (May 29) after she was officially notified of her expulsion from the country.
    France is expelling Syria's ambassador over the escalating crisis there and will host a new Friends of Syria meeting in early July, President Francois Hollande said on Tuesday.
    Reporters waited outside the Syrian Embassy in Paris on Tuesday to get a glimpse of the expelled Syrian ambassador, who left the French Foreign ministry in a black mercedes.
    A Franco-Syrian protester outside the Syrian Embassy said this expulsion was the result of a "manipulation".
    "There is an enormous manipulation. You know, the French ambassador in Syria himself said it, he sends reports back to his government and the government changes it only to do harm to Syria."
