- Story Text: Volleys of gunfire rang out from the Syrian border town of Ras al-Ain on Saturday (November 24), and could be heard from Turkey, where soldiers kept watch from lookout points.
Dozens of rebels had gathered in an empty space on the outskirts of the town, as fighting could be heard from inside.
Refugees could be seen from Turkey crossing the border fence loaded high with their belongings.
Rebels have maintained a tentative hold over the northern Syrian town, which has been repeatedly bombarded by forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
