- Story Text: A bus carrying passengers from Syria overturned on Friday morning (March 15) on Kahaleh highway in the district of Aley, Mount Lebanon , which is the main road linking Damascus to Beirut.
According to the Lebanese Red Cross, eight people were killed and 29 wounded, all of them Syrian nationalities. All the wounded, some in serious condition, have been transported to the nearest hospitals.
"Today the bus was coming from Syria on the Masnaa way, maybe the break did not work with the driver, so the bus overturned to the side. We came and saw dead and wounded people," said Ammar, a relative of one of the injured passengers on the bus.
The accident led to the interruption of traffic in both directions on Kahaleh highway. Security forces and the army personnel were deployed in the area along with the Lebanese Red Cross. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
