- Story Text: King Hussein arrived back in the Jordanian capital, Amman, on Monday (10 May) after three days of important talks in Damascus with Syrian President Hafez Al-Assad.
The King was met at the airport by his viceroy, Prince Mohammed, his brothers and government officials.
During their discussions the two leaders talked about establishing stronger ties between their on the political and military fronts. The meeting was the eighth between in the last year.
Before he left for home, King Hussein and President Al-Assad issued a joint communique expressing the hope that stability would be restored to Lebanon, following the election of a new president.
The King also expressed full support for the role played by Syria as mediator in the Lebanese civil war.
