- Story Text: The United Nations Security council yesterday (July 18) heard Lebanon call for new steps to obtain the release of six Syrian and Lebanese military officers abducted by an Israeli patrol which penetrated Lebanese territory on June 21, 1972. The council was called into session to discuss Israel's refusal to answer its call of June 26th for the officers' release. Israel declined to take part in yesterday's debate after he Council failed to include in its agenda a separate item concerning the mutual release of all Arab and Israeli prisoners of war, under the terms of the 1949 Geneva convention. After a procedural wrangle which lasted almost two hours, the council agreed to consider this question at another meeting.
