- Story Text: The Syrian Minister for Agriculture, Muhammad Haidar, made a brief visit to Amman, Jordan on Saturday (27 January) to hold discussions with King Hussein and Jordan's Prime Minister, Ahmed Lawzi.
Muhammad Haidar is one of President Hafez Assad's special envoys touring Arab countries to gain support following recent Israeli attacks on Syria. Syria hopes strengthen relations between Arab countries in a bid to gain help in its conflict with Israel at the Arab League Defence Council's conference which started in Cairo on Saturday (27 January).
SYNOPSIS: The Syrian Minister for Agriculture, Muhammad Haidar, made a brief visit to Amman, Jordan on Saturday. At his hotel Muhammad Haidar welcomed the Jordanian Prime Minister, Ahmed Lawzi, for an official luncheon.
The Syrian Minister is one of President Hafez Assad's special envoys touring Arab countries to discuss recent Israeli aggression against Syria. At the luncheon, Muhammad Haidar discussed the present Middle East situation with Mr. Lawzi and other government leaders. He was seeking support for Syria's conflict with Israel.
Later in the day, Muhammad Haidar was granted an audience with King Hussein at the Royal Palace.
King Hussein was presented with a message of goodwill from the Syrian President by Mr. Haidar. King Hussein will soon meet United States President Richard Nixon. He has been asked by Arab leaders to speak to Mr. Nixon about the Middle East situation.
