- Story Text: The world's first and biggest gay parade sailed through Amsterdam's canals on Saturday (Augusy 6).
It was relatively less extravagant than in previous years, with boats featuring the teenagers demanding better education about homosexuality highlighting a more sombre attitude.
Still, people of all ages took part in the annual celebrations, with seemingly as many onlookers dancing as there were people on barges.
"It's a big party, it's a bit like Queensday in Holland, but more pink than orange," a girl with painted moustache told Reuters.
Every year the gay parade marks the final celebration of a week-long gay and lesbian festival in Amsterdam.
