- Story Text: More than 2,000 people marched in the Gay Pride parade in Mexico City on Saturday (June 24).
Homosexuals, transexuals, and lesbians walked the streets denouncing police oppresion, demanding respect for their individual rights, and calling for more attention to the AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) problem.
Those taking part were also not averse to calling more attention to themselves with a whole series of outrageous costumes.
Gay pride is celebrated every June 24 in Mexico City and the parade has now established itself a favourite position in the city's festival calendar
