- Story Text: Tens of Syrians escaped into Lebanon on Tuesday (July 19) fleeing from an ongoing crackdown by Syrian authorities on anti-regime protesters which has been going for more than four months.
Syrian troops entered on Sunday (July 17) into the border village of Zabadani prompting many villagers to cross into Lebanon through unofficial border points.
Many continued to come through the crossings over Sunday and Monday and Tuesday fearing the crackdown. Some Syrians have also ran away from the villages surrounding the central city of Homs where authorities have launched a heavy crackdown on protesters.
The displaced Syrians have crossed from several border points including one through Knaisseh and Wadi Khaled. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
