  • Story Text: After attending Friday Prayers on Friday (September 3), hundreds of Palestinians living in Syria marched through the streets of Yarmouk camp near Damascus in a demonstration to mark al-Quds Day.
    The demonstrators shouted slogans criticising Israel and negotiations between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and the Israelis.
    The Palestinian-Iranian friendship association, that organised the demonstration in Syria, released a document in which it called for solidarity against Israeli settlement policies.
    Muslims around the globe demonstrate every year on the last Friday of Ramadan to mark the Quds day and show solidarity with Palestinian people.
    The idea was first conceived by Iran's revolution leader, Ayatollah Kahmenei in 1979.
