- Story Text: Ali Larijani, Iranian National Security Council representative, met Syrian Vice-President Farouq al-Shara in Damascus on Sunday (January 6).
Larijani urged Palestinians in the west Bank and the Gaza Strip to bury their differences to increase their chances of getting their rights.
The rift between Hamas and Fatah in Israeli Occupied Territories widened after Hamas defeated Fatah in a 2006 poll.
Larijani also said Tehran would support any moves to resolve the Lebanese political crisis.
He said: "Our position is clear. We support any step that may help to reach an agreement between the Lebanese. We must see the results that this movement has reached and the results it aims to achieve"
Lebanon's parliamentary majority leader Saad al-Hariri and Syria support an Arab plan to end the constitutional crisis in Lebanon, which has not had a president since November 23.
Arab foreign ministers are expected to approve a resolution based on the draft plan later on Sunday.
The draft endorses the choice of army chief General Michel Suleiman as the next president of Lebanon and says that he should be the arbiter in any contested decision. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
