- Story Text: Hamas leaders says his organisation will capture more Israeli soldiers in order to free all Palestinians in Israeli prisons.
Hamas said on Friday (October 2) that it would capture more Israeli prisoners in order to free all Palestinians prisoners who are in Israeli prisons.
"The Palestinian resistance, that was able to capture Shalit and treat him in a nice way, is able to capture Shalit and Shalit until there is no single Palestinian in the Israeli prisons," said Khaled Meshaal, Hamas leader.
Israel released 20 Palestinian women who were in Israeli prisons in exchange for a video tape that shows the captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit alive.
Meshaal who delivered his speech from the historic citadel of Damascus during a celebration organized as a part of the activities held by the civil campaign for celebrating Jerusalem as the capital of Arab culture 2009, said that the only way to liberate the city would be through resistance and not through negotiations.
"Jerusalem would come back to us liberated through resistance and not through begging on the negotiation tables," he said.
He urged Arab leaders to stop initiatives because he said they had proved useless.
"I call for a relook at the Palestinian and Arab strategy. Enough with the initiatives. Enough with waiting for solutions from others. We gave a chance to Bush the father and Bush the son and Obama, but the result was the failure and the closed ways and Americans and others are still biased toward Israel," he said.
The celebration was to memorize the day when the Arab leader Saladin liberated Jerusalem city in 1187. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
