- Story Text: Palestinian refugees rally at the funeral of three Palestinians said to have been killed by Israeli troops during Nakba Day demonstrations.
Palestinian refugees, living in Syria, on Monday (May 16) marched at the funeral of three Palestinians who were said to have been killed on Sunday (May 15) by the Israeli army in Ein al-Tineh, on the ceasefire line between Syria and Israel.
The mourners chanted in support of Palestine and called for the return to their homeland.
The coffins of the three victims were collected from the al-Wasseem mosque in Yarmouk Camp, near Damascus, where most Palestinians live.
Israeli troops shot Palestinian protesters who surged towards its frontiers with Syria, Lebanon and Gaza on Sunday, killing at least 13 people on the day Palestinians mourn the establishment of Israel in 1948.
Syrian media reports said four men were killed by Israeli gunfire and more than 200 others were wounded.
Syria is home to 470,000 Palestinian refugees and its leadership, now facing fierce internal unrest, had in previous years prevented protesters from reaching the frontier area. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
