  • Story Text: Crowds of Syrians gathered in Binnish on Friday (June 15) for a post-Friday-prayer protest against the regime of President Bashar al-Assad.
    One protester in the northern Syrian town, not far from Idlib, was confident it was only a matter of time before the uprising toppled the regime.
    "The Syrian revolution is heading towards toppling the regime. We will never retreat. The regime is creating obstacles by turning the situation into a civil war, but the Syrian people are aware of that and will not fall for sectarianism and continue with their revolution to topple the regime," said Ebrahim Kabani.
    At least 34 people were killed in Syria on Friday, said the British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, most of them by Assad's forces. The group, which has a network of activists across Syria, said the death toll included at least six members of Assad's forces who were killed in clashes with rebels.
