- Story Text: Syrian Ministry of Information takes media to a site in the Damascus suburb of Yalda, where they claim to have discovered evidence of civilian carnage.
The Syrian Ministry of Information took media to the site of what the Syrian military said was an attack on civilians and Syrian soldiers, in the southern Damascus neighbourhood of Yalda on Saturday (August 4).
There have been clashes in the area for the past week.
The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported more than 20 bodies were discovered at the site when the army entered the area two days ago, after following armed rebels into the neighbourhood.
Speaking to the media, a Syrian Army officer said, "The army forces followed the armed groups to where large numbers of the terrorists were killed. Others were arrested and a third party ran from the area."
The Syrian army did not say when it believed the attack took place. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
