- Story Text: Syrian National Council President Abdul-Baset Seida said on Monday (September 3) millions have been displaced as amateur video purports to show remains of homes in Damascus razed by bulldozers.
Seida, who is on an official visit to Spain said Syrian government troops continue to use all kinds of weapons against civilians.
"The truth is that they make use of all kinds of weapons. And there are several parts of Syria that have been razed completely. As I have said we have three million Syrians that have lost their homes and are displaced or living as refugees," he told journalists after meeting with Spanish Foreign Minister Manuel Garcia Margallo.
Amateur video uploaded to the internet is said to show destroyed homes in Damascus after bulldozers went through the neighbourhoods on September 2.
Residents said army bulldozers moved on al-Zayat and Farouk neighbourhoods to the west of the Syrian capital, and destroyed at least 20 buildings in the Sunni Muslim areas that have sheltered the insurgents.
Around 20,000 people have been killed during a 17-month uprising against Syria's President Bashar al-Assad. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
