- Story Text: Iran said on Wednesday (September 19) the crisis in Syria can be solved through coordinated regional cooperation.
"We need the countries in the region that can play a role to be involved and to be able to act as one big regional family of nations to tackle problems concerning the area," Iranian Foreign Minister, Ali Akbar Salehi said after arriving in Damascus for talks with Syrian leaders.
Salehi and his delegation flew into Damascus after meeting in Cairo with international mediator Lakhdar Brahimi.
"We need to co-ordinate with countries in the region who have a role to play and other organisations who have a role to play to try and find an honest resolution," he added.
Salehi, who was expected to later meet with President Assad, held talks with Foreign Minister Walid al-Mouallem at the foreign ministry in Damascus. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
