- Story Text: Mexican police presented on Saturday (February 27) the third man accused of having murdered 15 youths during a party in Ciudad Juarez last month.
Mexican soldiers arrested Aldo Fabio Hernandez, who was part of a gang of hit men tied to the Juarez cartel and had opened fire against the innocent youths whom they thought belonged to the rival Sinaloa gang.
Hernandez confessed to have participated in the massacre and told the police that he had received order from a boss he identified as "El Arnold", who leads a gang called "La Linea".
In a brief interview at the police station, Hernandez, who was part of the district's police body until 2008, said another 26 men had committed the murders.
State Attorney General Patricia Gonzalez said the other criminals would be hunted down and the responsible would not go unpunished.
"We have resumed investigations with the support of the Mexican army and in this continuity we have made another arrest and unfortunately an escape, in reality the fact that we have not been able to arrest the other policeman in the search mission. These results are still insufficient, but we will continue to work for this crime, as the president and the governor have mentioned, be left unpunished. The (incident in) Villas de Salvarcar will not go unpunished, above all, because we know the identity of 16 people who had direct participation in the event and of these 16, three have been arrested," she said.
Hernandez has been accused of taking part in at least other 40 murders and had a $200 dollar monthly payment.
In the past two years, Mexican drug lords have been battling over the control of Ciudad Juarez, causing the death of over 4,600 people.
The government has been forced to deploy 8,000 troops and federal police to the manufacturing city, where escalating violence has become a major concern. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
