- Story Text: Angry youths demonstrated in the western French city of Laval on Thursday (November 2) after a policeman shot dead a young Moroccan as he attempted to run from a police station after grabbing an officer's weapon on Wednesday.
Djamel Benakka, 26, from Paris who was visiting relatives, had been questioned at the police station over suspected petty theft.
He was killed as he attempted to run from the police station and as a consequence, several youths clashed with police later in the evening.
On Thursday, around 500 youths gathered in front of the police station and marched to Laval town hall.
Despite the fact that organisers had called for a silent demonstration, the youths shouted "We want the truth" and "Police - killers".
