- Story Text: In U.S. President Barack Obama's hometown of Chicago voters, on Tuesday (November 6), arrived at polling stations early and in large numbers.
In Hyde Park, voters said they were confident Obama would win another four year term.
"I voted for the man. And you will see who is going to be the man when they win the election. And you know who that is going to be - Barack Obama," said Curtis Wilson, a construction worker.
Haleema Webster, an office worker, brought her four-year-old son with her to the polls.
"I voted for President Barack Obama. I am happy with the gears he has put in place over the past four years and I am looking forward to seeing some more results in the next four years," she said.
Emma Norwood, a nurse, said her faith in Obama is just as strong as when she voted for him four years ago.
"I voted for Barack Obama because we need him to straighten this country out and Romney will destroy it," she said.
Unlike four years ago, when an estimated 240,000 people flooded into Grant Park to watch Obama give his victory speech, only a few thousand die hard supporters will join the President on election eve.
The Obama campaign decided to hold election eve festivities at the McCormick Convention Center, the largest indoor space in North America, citing weather concerns.
Media from around the world began setting up cameras as workers readied the hall for the event. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
