- Story Text: The leader of the Serbian Radical Party, Vojislav
Seselj has said his party will leave the Serbian government
coalition because Kosovo is "under occupation" by NATO forces.
The leaders of the ultra-nationalist party voted
unanimously on Monday (June 14) that all its ministers would
resign their positions in the Serbian government and break the
coalition with the Socialist Party of Serbia and the Yugoslav
Left.
The party, led by Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Vojislav
Seselj, had threatened to leave the government if NATO troops
entered Kosovo.
"Since Kosovo is under occupation we have no motive to
stay put in the government," Seselj said.
Serbian Radical Party deputies voted earlier this month
against the peace agreement on Kosovo.
The Serbian Radical Party has two deputy prime ministers
and 13 ministers in the government.
One of the 15 Radical Party ministers in government was in
hospital but the other 14 voted unanimously to withdraw from
the government.
The ministers said they were going to present their
resignations in writing to the Serbian parliament.
Serbia is one of two republics which make up the Yugoslav
federation.
The province of Kosovo in southern Serbia, is considered
to be the cradle of Serbian culture and religion.
