- Story Text: Egyptians started voting yesterday (Thursday) in sweeping elections designed to restructure the country's sole political organisation, the Arab Socialist union. Claiming that previous party elections in 1968 we rigged, President Anwar Sadat ordered the new round of voting after the discovery of the May conspiracy against him.
Cameraman Ken Ludlow filmed the first round of voting in Cairo for Visnews. He reported considerable enthusiasm among the people for the elections. Yesterday's ballot was do decide representatives of the 5,720 "basic units" of the party.
