- Story Text: About 20,000 young people - members of many Danish youth organisations - marched in a torchlights procession to the City Square in Copenhagen, May 29. They want to be able to vote at the age of 21 instead of, as at present, 23. Denmark is to decide through a referendum whether to lower the voting age.
This reform has been recommended by all political parties except the now small Independent Party. The reform (say reports) is virtually certain to be made.
At present, youths in Denmark have normally finished their National Service before they are 21. Many feel that they should therefore be entitled to vote when they reach this age.
