- Story Text: Brazil's men national volleyball squad unveiled on Friday (May 03) the latest uniform they will wear at the London Olympic Games this summer.
The team that won gold medals in the 1992 and 2004 Olympics is also the number one team on the FIVB World Rankings.
The squad that practices for the upcoming Olympics counts with Brazil's former volleyball captain Ricardo Garcia that left the team in 2007. He is now back for the London competitions. After five years, Garcia now fights to keep up with his team-mates.
Garcia said he will talk to the team's coach, Bernardo Rezende, to listen his opinion, but he assured he is in the same note as the rest of his team-mates.
"I want to make this very clear. We will talk now to see if the things are going good and what he (the coach Bernardo Rezende) think it is important to discuss. He will talk and I will understand him. But we are in the same tune and you can see that at the practices, at the gym. You can see that we have been in the same tune for a while; our connection was just a bit dusty, waiting at the garage. But we just need to wash and put the car back on the track," he said.
The men's squad is also known as the "Dream Team" due to its success under coach Rezende's orientation.
Rezende said he is investing in the younger players.
"The first thing it is for the players to recover, so we can build the team and give opportunities to young guys, like Mauricio (Silva) and Nery (Theo Fabricio Nery). These players can contribute a lot in the future. So, we are now preparing for our big goal, which is a golden medal in London," he said.
After the practice, the men and women playing on Brazil's national volleyball teams presented the new uniforms for the 2012 Olympics.
The Brazilian men squad won a silver medal on the 2008 Olympics and now aims at a golden medal at the London Olympics. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
