- Story Text: The Rio 2016 Olympics are still over three years away but the International Olympic Committee is already showing signs of concern about the local organisers' level of preparedness.
On Monday (February 18) the IOC's coordination commission met Brazilian officials, in Rio, for a fourth round of inspections to the city's Olympic sites.
Giving her first impressions on what she saw, the IOC Commission President, Nawal El Moutawake, had a stern warning.
"Our experience with past organising committees indicates that the complexity will grow exponentially over the next coming months, and Rio 2016 and its partners must be ready to cope
with this fast growing number of deliverables and the related pressure that is going to be put on you," she said.
During its visit in December, the commission said that "time is ticking" and that organisers must attack the project "with all vigour".
In addition to the 2016 Games, Brazil will host this summer's FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2014 World Cup. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
