- Story Text: International Olympic Committee (IOC) Head of Communications Giselle
Davies said on Tuesday (February 21) that even if athletes test negative in
direct doping tests, they can still be sanctioned according to the IOC laws on
doping.
She was speaking as investigations of the Austrian contingent continue
after raids on athletes' and coaches' premises in the mountains.
Davis told a news conference in Turin: "Maybe also worth bearing
in mind that obviously the IOC on Saturday night did its controls as part of
its anti-doping rule procedures, but this ultimately -- it can only be
possibly one element in a wider picture in so as far as anti-doping rules can
be violated not simply by having a substance in the body that is prohibited,
but also by attempted use or contact, possession with prohibited substances
