- Story Text: The president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Jacques Rogge and the North Korean Olympic Committee delegation arrived in South Korea on Friday (March 31) to attend a biannual IOC conference.
Rogge and Vice Chairman Son Kwang-ho, who lead North Korea's NOC delegation, will take part at the 15th Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) General Assembly, opening in Seoul from March 31 to April 7.
The Executive Board of the IOC will meet with about 200 of the 203 NOCs, which will hold a General Assembly earlier in the week.
During the meeting, officials will discuss preparations for the forthcoming Olympics, namely the Beijing 2008, the Winter Games in Vancouver 2010 and London 2012 Olympics.
The South Korean city of Pyeongchang, located in the country's eastern Kangwon province, is bidding to host the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Although it is forbidden to advertise its bid during the General Assembly meetings, officials hope this would be a chance to shed positive light to its bid.
