A massive crowd, all dressed in the Dutch national colour, orange, was awaiting their two Olympic heroines at the Holland house.
The Dutch heroes were both given a large replica golden medal that was passed through the ecstatic Dutch crowed.
"It is unbelievable, it is so great, it is amazing, no I never thought that it was going to be a victory, so it is unbelievable," said Wust. She added that the gold medal became hers by pushing it: " I don't know , i just went for it, it was going so well and i was just gave everything of my body".
The 19-year-old Wust took charge from the start, clocking laps of about
5 seconds and finishing more than seven seconds faster than the previous best skater.
Wust was so dominant that her final time of 4:02.43 sent the crowd into a frenzy, four races from the conclusion.
Wust's roomate and silver medallist Groenewold told Reuters Television that in the next race she was going for gold. "It is the second time and i am relly proude of it but there are more reaces coming and i want that one gold medal", said Groenewold.
