- Story Text: Two biathletes going are for gold in Turin, but representing different nations. They are France's Raphael Poiree and Norway's Liv Grete Skelbreid, who are both aiming to go one better than the silver they won in Lake Placid four years ago.
"First there is no jealousy," said Poiree. "This is important and when she gets one medal its mine too, so that's why we are very very strong and she is very spychologue for me: she sees when I am tired and when I need to rest and its like a trainer, like a friend like a confidante . All this make us very strong."
Liv Grete, who has a daughter Emma with Raphael, concurred. They work for themselves but also for each other, she says, adding that each and every race counts because the result will influence the way they perform.
"I think we push each other we speak a lot about this, " she said. " I think we have learned a lot from this year, for one to make a good race its more easy for the other to make good race but also if it doesn't go as well for one we will try to make the best for the other."
Her first race will be on Monday February 13, two days after Poiree's race.
Raphael Poiree leads in the championships but has never won Olympic gold. His greatest adversary is Norwegian Ole Einar Bjoerndalen who in 2002 became the first biathlete to win four golds medals at a single games.
Two days before the race Poiree says he admires Bjoerndalen . "He's a great champion, he said " There will be no problem and I am really not worried about him and I don't necessarily think only about him. My greatest opponent is myself and you really need to fight with yourself to get a good race and God knows its hard." - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
