- Story Text: Travel chaos continued on Friday (December 24) as travellers in Germany's populous western state of North Rhine-Westphalia battled with icy roads and snow on the runway at the region's Cologne/Bonn Airport.
Flights were mostly departing from the airport with some cancellations of flights to the capital.
Car drivers were forced to take the roads slowly as ice caused slippery conditions.
On a happier note for residents not needing to travel, the snow offered a picture card winter scenery.
Severe travel disruption has affected a large area of northern Europe with major airports like London Heathrow and Frankfurt among the worst hit. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
