- Story Text: Clear-up work continued on Monday (March 01) following violent weekend storms across France, Spain and Germany.
More than a million people were left without electricity and at least 51 people were killed by the low pressure storm, dubbed, 'Xynthia.' In Germany on Monday the storm had weakened and travel was slowly returning to normal.
German railways reported on their website that passengers should expect minor delays and some cancellations on services around Frankfurt, North-Rhine Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate.
Services from Frankfurt airport's long-distance railway station have been reopened.
A spokesman from Frankfurt airport said passengers could expect the resumption of a normal service after Sunday (February 28) saw 241 of 1275 flights domestic and European flights cancelled.
The German Weather Centre said no further storms were expected but Xynthia's tail could bring colder weather to the north of Germany.
