- Story Text: A German inventor has produced a handy mobile urinal aimed at Euro 2008 fans who can't bear to drag themselves away from the action to answer the call of nature.
When nature calls and one happens to be stuck in the middle of a soccer-crazy crowd at a public viewing area during the Euro 2008, the so called "roadbag" promises instant relief- literally. Men who have no chance of making it to the toilet in time can just pull out one of those little silver bags that can hold up to three quarters of a litre of liquid, guaranteed without leakage.
"Inside the roadbag, there is a fleecy bag that contains super-absorber, which consists of polymer crystals", roadbag-inventor Eva-Maria Tinter told Reuters on Wednesday (June 11).
"The crystals are non-poisonous and also have a very high suction power in the concentration that is used in the roadbag. They don't just absorb the liquid, but also the smell."
According to Tinter, orders have gone up in time for the European Championship - with Swiss and Austrian fans seemingly most interested in the option of being able to pee where and whenever.
"Many soccer fans have ordered via the internet and orders from Switzerland and Austria have skyrocketed" says Tinter. "I guess the men are stocking up as well as ordering bags for their friends."
Of course, use for the roadbag is not just limited to public viewing during soccer tournaments, says roadbag distributor in Austria, Peter Haberfellner.
"The Roadbag can be used in many ways, not only during the Euro 2008 but during all kinds of festivals and gatherings. It is a classic product for the glove compartment of your car."
The pocket urinal for men could prove a useful gadget in helping to stop anti-social fans relieving themselves in public.
Each bag also has a wet wipe attached that allows the user to clean his hands afterwards. Once one is finished, the roadbag can easily be disposed of in any waste bin.
As a woman, roadbag-inventor Eva-Maria Tinter has also considered female needs. Her "lady bag" is expected to be launched soon. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
