- Story Text: A sex club named after former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn opened on Wednesday (30 April) on the Belgian-French border.
The "DSKlub" will employ six women and a transsexual, according to Belgian media, and is the invention of Dominique Alderweireld, generally known as "Dodo La Saumure", a play on words on the slang for a pimp.
Few people came for the opening of the club, located in the small town of Blaton, but under the dim lights indoors, women were seen pole-dancing and Alderweireld toasted the launch of his new establishment with bottles of champagne.
Alderweireld, who spent nearly three-and-a-half months in prison for allegedly providing prostitutes to Strauss-Kahn, claimed that his opening of the club was motivated by revenge.
"I was a victim of the Dominique Straus-Kahn story. I went to prison thanks to the matter of the escorts. I therefore want my revenge for this story with the opening of this new club," he said.
However, Alderweireld insisted that the club's name was not meant as a reference to Strauss-Kahn, with the initials standing for "Dodo Sex Klub".
"Why the name? Why the name, because it means 'Dodo Sex Klub' in Flemish and well, I think it was a good social reason for opening this club," he said.
A statement by Strauss-Kahn's Belgian lawyer said "he has announced he will take all judicial measures necessary to end the damage to his name which results from this".
Strauss-Kahn, commonly referred to as DSK, is a former French finance minister and was seen as a strong contender for France's 2012 presidential election until a sexual assault case in New York in 2011, which was later dropped, brought his ambitions to a halt. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
