- Story Text: Lufthansa's Germanwings budget airline changed their logo to black on a social media site after an Airbus operated by them crashed in a remote area of southern France on Tuesday (March 24) and all 148 on board were feared dead.
The carrier also released a statement on the page saying in German and English: "We do not know exactly what happened to Flight 4U 9525" and sending their wishes to the families of those involved.
At the Germanwings headquarters in Cologne, staff waited by doors as a camera crew stood outside.
Officials at Barcelona airport said the flight took off at 0855 GMT (0455 ET).
The crashed A320 is 24 years old and has been with the parent Lufthansa group since 1991, according to online database airfleets.net - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
