- Story Text: Muppet mega-stars, Kermit the Frog and the Great Gonzo, splashed down in Bristol, United Kingdom on May 24 for the launch of their latest big-screen adventure "Muppet Treasure Island" at the International Festival of the Sea.
The film, directed by Brian Henson (son of Muppet creator Jim Henson) and starring actor Tim Curry (Long John Silver) and comedian Billy Connolly (Billy Bones), is based, losely, on the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson.
Director Brian Henson described the film as "only a little bit Treasure Island". Adding Miss Piggy (Benjamina Gunn), never one to hog the limelight, took "the whole story in her own direction".
Rumours of romance between La Piggy and Kermit (Captain Smollet) continue to plague the green hero.
During an interview before the Bristol premiere, Kermit once again dismissed the allegations as "fabrications" put about by Miss Piggy, despite contradictory remarks from side-kick Gonzo (Gonzo).
"There is nothing romantic going on between us at all", Kermit insisted. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
