- Story Text: The President of United Aircraft Corp, Mikhail Pogosyan, arrived in Indonesia on Sunday (May 13) to meet Indonesian officials and Russian recovery workers and aeronautical experts involved in the investigation of a plane crash earlier this week.
The jet, with about 48 on board, crashed in the Mount Salak area during an exhibition flight on Wednesday ( May 9).
Indonesia officials said the Russian team will focus on investigating the cause of the accident and recovering wreckage. Indonesia's will handle the evacuation of victims' remains.
Several bags of remains have already been transported to a police hospital in Jakarta.
"We have found remains that might be from two different victims. Considering the conditions it is difficult to tell whether they are part of the foreign crew on board or not," said Indonesian Air Force Field Operation Chief, Samsir Tambunan.
"About the black box, no, we have not found it. Around 75 percent of wreckage is inside the crater, our team is still working on it," he added.
Chief civil test pilot Alexander Yablontsev and his co-pilot Alexander Kochetkov had been flying the plane, said a statement on the Superjet International website, the Italian-led venture responsible for marketing the plane to the West.
Yablontsev had accumulated 10,000 flight hours and commanded the Superjet on its maiden flight in 2008.
The aircraft crashed on the second of two demonstration flights from Halim Perdanakusuma airport, east of Jakarta.
Sukhoi, which has orders for 170 planes world-wide, plans to produce up to 1,000 Superjets, primarily for foreign markets. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
