- Story Text: Temperatures rose in London recently, as more then 5,000 visitors flocked to this year's annual Erotica show.
Spiced up with fetish fashion shows and kinky demonstrations, Erotica was a mecca for those who wanted to stimulate their fantasies and maybe buy a few Christmas presents here and there.
This year's Erotica Show opened on Friday (November 22) with a glamorous fashion display of the latest in fetish clothing. The theme was 'God and Goddess', based on the idea that sex is for both men and women! "Our theory is that sex is not, or should not be, aimed at men, the male market, where a beautiful woman is sexually abused for their benefit and their glorification. That's not right," said Savvas Christodoulou, organiser of the show.
Opinions on what is and isn't erotic differ, and Erotica had something for all tastes. Dave Davies is a motorsport and model photographer. His 2003 calendar of 22-year-old Scottish model Rhowena proved to be a hit with male visitors.
"I'm trying to do something which is beautiful and sensual, but not in a kind of in your face way", he said.
As for Rhowena, she takes a philosophical view to the attaetion her male visitors pay her.
"They're just guys, you just have a laugh with them and they're happy, they go away with a smile on their face, so as long as they don't try to grab my arse."
Erotica offered anything from fetish clothing, boots, jewellery, porn videos, to bathtubs.
A whipping session, however, didn't appeal to everyone.
Watching one young woman enjoy it, many visitors couldn't see the attraction.
"I don't really fancy this - not for me," said one passer-by.
Erotica is now finished, but will return to London again next year. So far, it's attracted a large number of visitors which seems to negate the stereotypical view of British prudery. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
