- Story Text: Tower Bridge was opened Tuesday (June 4) to pay tribute to the winner of the Whitbread Round the World Yacht Race.... Sayule Two. With her owner and skipper, Mexican businessman Ramon Carlin at the helm, the ocean going vessel sailed up the Thames under Tower Bridge to a mooring near the centre of London.
The yacht will be in London for three days to allow the public to inspect her. Sayula Two made a splendid sight silhouetted against the raised bascules of Tower Bridge. Hundreds of people lined the Embankment to wave as the yacht made her way to Tower Pier. Hours after docking, skipper Ramon Carlin went to Mansion House in London to receive the winner's trophy from Prince Philip.
