- Story Text: One of India's most prominent artists -- Satish Gujral -- recently previewed an exhibition of his works to go on show in the United Stats in November.
The preview was given in New Delhi before the paintings and murals were packed ready for shipping to the Wesleyan art Centre at the Wesleyan University in Connecticut.
Mr. Gujral -- who's stone deaf -- achieved world fame when he was commissioned to create a mural for the World Trade Centre in New York -- the world's tallest building. In India, he has created twenty murals now on public display and has staged about twelve major exhibitions.
Gujral's work draws form the past and present. He uses modern forms and materials -- multi-layered geometric metal shapes -- and the craftsmanship of ancient India to produce muruals that combine sculpture and painting.
About twenty of Gujral's murals will go on show at the Wesleyan art Centre form 15 November to 20 December.
