- Story Text: Dismal weather didn't dampen spirits on the red carpet
as the world's top musical celebrities arrived for the 53rd
Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.
Sting, Ricky Martin, Shirley Manson, Kid Rock and
Britney Spears were among the acts attending the Staples
Center in Los Angeles. As the stars continued to arrive for
the 53rd annual Grammy Awards, nobody's star was shining
brighter than rock veteran Carlos Santana.
The 10,000 music professionals who vote for the Grammys
have a track record of giving veterans their due, as in the
cases of Bonnie Raitt in 1990 and 1992, Natalie Cole in 1992
and Eric Clapton in 1993.Santana this year fits the bill. The
52-year-old virtuoso, who released the hit album
"Supernatural" last year, had already been presented with four
awards in a pre-Grammy ceremony held to distribute the bulk of
the hundred plus awards the Academy proffers.
