- Story Text: The Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) has rejected an offer by the United States to hold talks, claiming it was a manoeuvre to gain time and soften Arab opposition to the U.S.-sponsored Egyptian-Israeli peace pact. Mr. Yasser Abed Rabbo, head of the PLO's information department, and a member of the PLO Executive Committee held a news conference on Thursday (2 August). He commented on recent American declarations that the United States was prepared to start talks with the PLO if it accepted Israel's right to exist.
