  • Story Text: Belgian foreign Minister, M. Pierre Harmel on Thursday (June 17) began his round of talks with his Egyptian counterpart, Mr. Mahmoud Raid, on the Middle East situation.

    M. Harmel arrived in Cairo on Wednesday (June 16) at the start of an official five-day tour to the United Arab Republic. He had previously visited the Lebanon for four days and Syria for one day.

    The talks are also expected to take in the French-sponsored proposal, accepted by the European Common Market Parliament, for a peaceful settlement of the Middle East situation.

    The settlement was based on the terms of the 1967 settlement adopted by the United Nations Security Council.
