- Story Text: The People's Republic of China has urged the United Nations Security Council to reinforce economic sanctions against Rhodesia and also to apply them against South Africa and Portugal. The Chinese Ambassador to the U.N., Mr. Chuang Yen, was speaking on Tuesday (Jan 30) in the second day of the Debate over the crisis caused by Rhodesia's closure of the border with Zambia.
Other nations also condemned Rhodesia during the second day of the debate. They included Kenya whose delegate, Mr. Joseph Odero-Jowi, called on Britain to intervene with force. Mr. Odero-Jowi said the Rhodesian action would not stop the guerrillas.
