- Story Text: In his first speech to the current session of the United Nation, on Tuesday (2 October) the Deputy Foreign Minister of The People's Republic of China, Chiao Kuan Hua, levelled a new attack on the policies of the Soviet Union.
In his policy address to the General Assembly, Mr. Chiao said "what the Soviet Union practised was not internationalism, but great power chauvinism, national egoism and territorial expansionism.
In his survey of the international situation, the Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister said Soviet-United States rivalry was worldwide and had created "a travesty of peaceful coexistence." He went on to attack the 1972 Soviet-U.S. agreement on the prevention of nuclear war as "a mere scrap of paper." He said it allowed interference in other nations' affairs without providing adequate safeguards against the eventual use of nuclear weapons."
"China absolutely till not go begging for nuclear protection from any country, nor is she afraid of a nuclear threat from any country", he added.
