- Story Text: Pop star Michael Jackson was discharged from hospital in the United States (U.S.) on Tuesday (December 12) six days after he was admitted for a life-threatening viral infection that caused him to faint on stage.
Thirty-seven year old Jackson left the Beth Israel North hospital in New York in a simple white van for an undisclosed location.
Fans, who had mounted a vigil outside the hospital, were rewarded with a wave from the singer.
Doctors say Jackson will require several more days of bed rest and close monitoring by his medical team as an out-patient over the next few weeks.
