- Story Text: The new head of the United Nations observation teams in the Middle East, General Bengt Liljestrand of Sweden, says he has seen promising signs of cooperation between the nations of the Middle East. The General was formerly chief of the Royal Sweden Armed Forces Staff College in Stockholm. He was appointed to the Middle East post by United Nations Secretary General, Kurt Waldheim. Since taking up the position on April 1st, General Liljestrand has met authorities in Egypt, Israel and Syria. He spoke to newsmen in Jerusalem about his findings.
