- Story Text: The United States and North Korea on Wednesday (September 14) resumed talks on resolving a nuclear dispute in Berlin and leader of Pyongyang's team Kim Jong-u said progress was being made.
The two delegations have been meeting in east Berlin over the last four days for talks on updating North Korea's nuclear technology to severely reduce the risk of spent fuel being used to produce atomic weapons.
There has been no comment on the talks from the U.S. side, led by State Department official Gary Saymore.
But Kim Jong-u announced that there will be a news conference after the final round of talks on Wednesday.
The talks, billed as "technical", have focused on how North Korea's present graphite nuclear reactors could be replaced by light-water technology, which would make it very difficult for by-products to be used to make weaponry.
